I was looking for this tutorial so hard just a bit ago! I remember seeing it a long time ago, and couldn't for the life of me remember how to get the shading to work on multiple colors. I'm really glad I was able to find it through searching. But now I'll fave it so I can find it again easily. Thanks so much for making this, I would have never been able to figure this out myself
This is very helpful! I've had SAI for a long time and I've never known the value of those layer modes! I have a question though, what program do you use to put the text in your tutorials? SAI doesn't have a text tool, does it?
Oh, okay. That's really handy. I've tried copying text from paint over but couldn't get rid of the white box for the life of me. So that's what the luminance to transparency does... Nice! That's saves me a whole lot of heartache. Thank you :3
Just try using different colours sometimes. They create very neat colour combo's, usually much more interesting ones than semi-transparant black. I usually don't know how they'll look beforehand either, it's trial and error every time. ^^ Over time you'll start to develop a feeling for which ones fit together and what kind of effect they give. (Example: brown or red over yellow, creates a golden-ish shadow)
There aren't like version number versions of SAI, as far as I know. By distributing and re-distributing the same version or different translations of the same version, over and over again, some functions probably have gotten lost.
